Endoscopy
Endoscopy is a diagnostic procedure used to examine the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract, including the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. A thin, flexible tube equipped with a light and camera (endoscope) is inserted through the mouth to provide a direct view of the inside of the digestive system. Endoscopy helps diagnose and treat a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, such as ulcers, esophagitis, and early-stage cancers.
Colonoscopy
A colonoscopy is a procedure that allows for a direct examination of the large intestine (colon) and rectum. A colonoscope , a tool similar to an endoscope, is inserted through the anus to visualize the entire length of the colon. Colonoscopy is used not only to diagnose conditions like ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, colorectal polyps, and colon cancer but also to collect tissue samples (biopsies) and even remove small polyps.

Polypectomy (EMR & ESD)
Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) are advanced endoscopic procedures used to diagnose and remove mucosal lesions in the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, and large intestine. These procedures serve as an alternative to surgery in many cases.
EMR: Used to examine and treat superficial lesions of the gastrointestinal tract. In this procedure, the lesion is divided into small pieces and removed.
ESD: Designed to remove large, flat lesions in the gastrointestinal tract. In this procedure, the lesion is removed in one piece.
Treatment Procedure:
In both EMR and ESD, the lesion is first separated from the surrounding tissues by injecting fluid under the mucosa. Then, using special instruments, the lesion is removed and sent to the laboratory for pathological examination.
Paraclinical Services: Sending polyp sample to pathology
Treatment Duration:
Follow-up: once
Hospital Stay : less than one day
Stay in Iran: Varies depending on the underlying condition.
